Colorado State Rams defensive back Henry Blackburn and Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter met in person on Wednesday to shake hands and leave the past behind them.
Blackburn injured Hunter with a late hit during the Buffaloes' 43-35 victory over the Rams nearly two weeks ago and did not even receive a one-game suspension despite the other player involved being forced to miss three games.
The Colorado State player and his family, however, reportedly received death threats over injuring Hunter. Local police are investigating the claims.
Hunter missed Saturday's 42-6 loss to the Oregon Ducks with a lacerated liver and is expected to be sidelined two more weeks.
He is ready to return in a few days against USC, though, and reportedly will not take no for an answer.
Deion Sanders defends Henry Blackburn
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders spoke out against those who sent death threats to Blackburn and said he, along with Hunter, had already forgiven him for making a mistake.
"This is still a young man trying to make it in life, a guy that's trying to live his dream and hopefully graduate with honors or a degree, committed to excellence and go to the NFL," Sanders said. "He does not deserve a death threat over a game. At the end of the day, this is a game. Someone must win, someone must lost. Everybody continues their life the next day. Very unfortunate.
"I'm saddened if there is any of our fans on the other side of those threats. I would hope and pray not, but that kid was just playing the best of his ability and he made a mistake. So I forgive him. CU, our team forgives him. Travis, he's forgiven him. Let's move on. But that kid does not deserve that."
Hunter has now confirmed Sanders' statement about forgiving Blackburn by shaking hands and letting everyone on social media witness the moment.
