Why are NFL players wearing tie-dye clothing on the field lately? It's a strange sight because when you think of tie-dye designs, the first image that pops into your head probably isn't a bunch of burly men tackling each other on a field and grunting in a gym somewhere running endless drills.

Why is the NFL rocking tie-dye gear out of nowhere?
As it turns out though, the tie-dye designs that the NFL is promoting have to do with the league's partnership with the American Cancer Society for the Crucial Catch Program.

The CCP specializes in detecting and stopping various forms of cancer early on, urging individuals to regularly get tested to give them a bigger and better fighting chance.

Responses to the tie-dye hats got people wondering just what in the world was going on, which was kind of the point. Folks began flocking to Google to discover what the tie-dye designs were for and found that it was not only a way to bring awareness to testing for all types of cancer, but that they could get their favorite team's logo on a groovy new article of clothing.

From spaced-out hats to tie-dye long sleeve shirts and hoodies, if you've got a team you love repping, then there's some form of acid-looking design for sale. Not all of the tie-dye clothing items are for the Crucial Catch program, however. Just the ones that are labeled as such will donate proceeds to the American Cancer Society.

All profits from specified NFL tie-dye apparel will go to the American Cancer Society.
What's cool is that all of the profits are going to the American Cancer Society, which means that the NFL isn't seeing a penny from the proceeds of the hats. All of that money is going to help people catch different forms of cancer early on, which is pretty darn righteous.
