In news that surprises literally no Euphoria fan, Cal (Eric Dane) went off the deep end in the latest episode of the HBO series, having a breakdown in front of his family that ended with the controversial patriarch disclosing his sexuality and seemingly leaving them behind. But what did surprise viewers is that the scene began with him urinating all over the foyer of his home while his wife and sons watched. And that particular moment left viewers with one lingering question: Did we just see all of Eric Dane?

Well, the quick answer is no. That piss scene was a credit to an impressively-realistic prosthetic.

"I had absolute control over the penis. Because it was supposed to be mine," Dane told Men’s Health in a recent interview. "I approved it. I said, 'This looks like a nice penis. Let’s use this one.'"

Cal giving his home a golden shower was the result of the conflicted father going back to the bar where, as a teen, he shared a kiss with his best friend. The location obviously brought up a lot of feelings for a very drunk Cal, who has seemingly been struggling to accept his sexuality since his teen years. The walk down a tortured memory lane ended with Cal getting kicked out of the bar for trying to wrestle/starting a fight.

All this internal conflict causes Cal to come undone at home, breaking down in front of his family—and pissing in the foyer. The moment resulted in the iconic line from his wife, "Cal, I'm not going to ask you again. Put your penis away," to which the actor responds, "I am who I am," launching into a monologue about his torment—dick fully out for the majority of the duration.

"It’s very freeing to do a monologue with your penis out," Dane told Men's Health. "I hope everybody becomes a bit more comfortable with their appendages after this show."

The moment that had every fan scratching their heads with wide eyes was somewhere between jarring and inevitable for Cal, who has been having quite the season.

"From the start, whipping out his penis and peeing all over the vestibule of the house, the symbolism there is pretty strong," Dane told Entertainment Tonight. "And then being confronted by his wife and telling her how lonely he is. That’s a funny way of conveying those feelings to somebody."

You could say that again.
